Are GMOs Bad?
“Are GMOs Bad?”
GMOs, Genetically Modified Organisms, are a complicated subject. You will hear how they are saving the world or ruining it.
While watering my plants, I had a thought about GMO crops specifically. Then you can decide if you think they are good or bad.
Here’s the tweetstorm version of it (and under my saved instagram highlights under “GMO crops” i talk a bit about this):
Today’s thoughts while watering the plants…
GMO crops

A GMO crop is when a plant’s DNA is altered using genetic engineering to introduce a new trait that wouldn’t otherwise naturally occur.

For example, a gene can be modified so that a plant creates more of its own natural insectide – like lectins.
These lectins will deter insects but can also wreak some damage on our gut wall.

Another example is modifying a gene that makes the crop resistant to glyphosate or RoundUp.
That way, farmers can spray their GMO crops, killing weeds, but the crops survive.

Even non-GMO crops are sprayed with Roundup because it’s a desiccant which makes harvesting easier.
It’s everywhere, besides a number of countries that have banned it.

A big problem with glyphosate is that for the same reason it’s effective against weeds, it’s effective against the bacteria in your gut.
It prevents them from making some essential amino acids that we need them to make.

Moral of the Story:
Scientist genetically modified our plants making them resistant to Roundup but they forgot to make us resistant.— Kevin Stock (@kevinstock12) April 3, 2018
UPDATE. After tweeting this, this news came out.
To me it seems the further we stray from what we are designed to eat the more problems we risk running into and is a reason why i experimented with the carnivore diet.
By the way, come join me on twitter for the next tweetstorm ?
Or better – I also email these out every Saturday at 7…
